The Argentine became Santos’ main option after the club fired Pedro Caixinha and received two rejections, from Tite and Dorival Júnior.
Santos has already initiated contact with Jorge Sampaoli and is expecting a positive outcome in the next few hours. On Monday night (14/4), the club and coach met virtually, in which they opened negotiations.
Sampaoli became the main option after the black and white team received two rejections, from Tite and Dorival Júnior. The Argentine coach managed Santos between 2018 and 2019, with the highlight being the runner-up in the Brazilian championship in 2019.
There is resistance within the club, due to the demands for improvement of the squad made by the coach, in addition to the difficulties in the day-to-day work. The name is the one that pleases president Marcelo Teixeira the most, who had already approached the coach previously. Sampaoli has been without a club since January, when he was fired from Rennes.
The coach stayed at the French club for about two months, with ten games, three wins and seven defeats.
