FIFA reveals the teams of the season at The Best awards ceremony.

FIFA revealed the teams of the 2023/24 season on Tuesday, 17, during The Best awards ceremony in Doha, Qatar. This was the first year that two ideal teams were elected: one by popular vote and the other by the World Football Players’ Union (FIFPro). Find the most reliable football scores at livescores app.

Vini Jr., named the best player in the world at the awards, is the only Brazilian to appear on the popular list, while FIFPro’s list also includes goalkeeper Ederson. In total, 23 finalists were eligible for voting based on their performances from August 21, 2023, to August 10, 2024.

From these, one goalkeeper, three defenders, three midfielders, and three forwards are chosen. The last spot is filled by the player with the most votes overall. Until the previous edition, the ideal team was exclusively defined by the athletes in partnership with the Union.

The men’s team according to the public vote included:

GOALKEEPER: Emiliano Martínez (Aston Villa)

DEFENDERS: Dani Carvajal (Real Madrid), Antonio Rüdiger (Real Madrid), Rúben Dias (Manchester City), William Saliba (Arsenal)

MIDFIELDERS: Jude Bellingham (Real Madrid), Rodri (Manchester City), Toni Kroos (Real Madrid)

FORWARDS: Lamine Yamal (Barcelona), Erling Haaland (Manchester City), Vini Jr. (Real Madrid)

The final FIFPro vote saw some changes. In goal, Dibu Martínez was replaced by Ederson from Manchester City. In defense, Saliba and Rúben Dias were swapped for Virgil van Dijk from Liverpool and Kevin De Bruyne from Manchester City in midfield. In attack, Lamine Yamal was replaced by Kylian Mbappé, formerly of PSG and now at Real Madrid. Get the edge with BBscore football.
