Commentator Walter Casagrande Jr., a former player for the Brazilian national team, chose Paris Saint-Germain as the best team in the Club World Cup. According to the Corinthians idol, the French team plays the most brilliant football on the planet.
In one of the most exciting games of the World Cup, PSG beat Bayern Munich 2-0 this Saturday (5/7) at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia. The goals of the game were scored in the second half by Doué, in the 32nd minute, and Dembélé, in the 50th minute.
“PSG has a brilliant, engaging touch of the ball, but the most important thing is the commitment of this team that, despite its enormous talent, plays as a team. This is modern football. No one plays for just one player anymore. Even the best of the moment dedicate themselves on the field to the team game”, said Casagrande, in his column in UOL Esporte.
“Luís Enrique has a number of talented individuals at his disposal, players who, years ago, would have had teammates running onto the pitch so that he could just pick up the ball to make the decision. But this type of football is a thing of the past, it is archaic. So much so that the first thing the coach did was to start removing this type of player, even though they were enormously talented. That is how the PSG that is a joy to watch was formed,” he added.
Casagrande praised PSG’s level of attention and focus even with nine players on the pitch at the end of the game. “Most teams in the world, winning 1-0 and with two players less, would try to pass the time, without even thinking about attacking. But PSG didn’t. They defended themselves, but they never got out of their minds the possibility of catching Bayern by surprise and delivering the final blow. And they did. A huge rating for a great team, one that plays the best football in the world.”

The match was balanced throughout, with chances for both sides to score. The German team scored twice, but the goals were disallowed by the referee for offside. PSG held on to the result even with two players less, as Pacho and Hernández were sent off late in the second half. With the victory, the French team will face Real Madrid, who beat Borussia Dortmund 3-2.
The game will take place next Wednesday (July 9), at 4:00 pm (Brasília time), at MetLife Stadium. The other semifinal will be played between Fluminense, who beat Al-Hilal 2-1, and Chelsea, who beat Palmeiras also 2-1.
