Ancelotti, Vini Jr., Paquetá and more: the illustrious guests at Flamengo's Libertadores game

Ancelotti, from the Brazilian national team; Vini, Paquetá and another Flamengo alumnus went to Maracanã; one of them surprised everyone by going to the stands with an organized crowd

Maracanã received several illustrious visitors on Wednesday night (28/5), for the match between Flamengo and Deportivo Táchira, from Venezuela, for the sixth round of the group stage of the Copa Libertadores. Coach Carlo Ancelotti, from the Brazilian national team; forward Vinícius Júnior, a graduate of the red-black youth team and a star at Real Madrid; and two Flamengo alumni who play in the Premier League are among them. Multiple champions together for Real in recent years, Vini and Ancelotti met in one of the stadium’s boxes, hugged and chatted briefly.

In addition to them, two players who have been called up to the Brazilian National Team several times recently and were discovered by Flamengo were present at the venue: midfielder Lucas Paquetá, from West Ham, England; and defensive midfielder João Gomes, from Wolverhampton, also from England. João even surprised everyone – instead of watching the game from the Maracanã box, like Ancelotti, Vini and Paquetá, the defensive midfielder who won the Libertadores in 2022 decided to be present with Raça Fla, one of the club’s main organized fan groups, in the North Sector of the stadium.

Paquetá took the opportunity to take his two children to the stadium for the first time. His wife, Duda Fournier, recorded the moment on Instagram.

Libertadores champion for Flamengo alongside João Gomes in 2022, right-back Rodinei, from Olympiacos, Greece, also attended the Maracanã. The players of the Brazilian Men’s Volleyball Team, concentrated in Saquarema, Rio de Janeiro, to prepare for the VNL (Nations League), also went to the stadium to watch Flamengo x Deportivo Táchira.
