The last team to qualify for the Club World Cup has been defined; the team is part of Flamengo's group

The competition begins on June 14 in the United States; the spot was defined this Saturday (31/5)

The list of participants in the Club World Cup, which will be held in the United States starting on June 14, is now complete. Los Angeles FC, from the host country, secured the last spot in the tournament, defined on Saturday night (31/5). The Californian team beat AméricaMEX 2-1, in a duel decided in extra time.

The Mexican team opened the scoring with Brian Rodríguez, from the penalty spot, but the opponent sought to equalize at the end, with Brazilian Igor Jesus, and triumphed in extra time, with a shot by Bouanga.

The match between the teams was a solution by FIFA (International Federation of Football Association) to the impasse over the last spot in the World Cup. León, from Mexico, had the results needed to compete in the competition, but is owned by the same team as Pachuca, also from Mexico. The rules do not allow teams with the same ownership in the competition.

A match was then decided between Los Angeles, defeated by León in the final of the 2023 Concacaf Champions Cup, and the highest-ranked team in North America that had not yet qualified, América-MEX. In a single game, in the United States, Los Angeles FC won.

The club earned a spot in Group D, headed by Chelsea, from England. Flamengo, from Brazil, and Espérance, from Tunisia, are also in the group.
