Forwards made history in world football with high-level rivalry
A highlight of Inter Miami’s victory over Porto, this Thursday (19/6), in the Club World Cup, Messi spoke again about his rivalry with Cristiano Ronaldo. The Argentine star assessed that the antagonism on the field was something common and expected. Messi considered that this exists when players defend teams that are always facing each other.
For the number 10 of Inter Miami and the Argentine national team, Cristiano Ronaldo has built a great career. Messi praised the fact that the Portuguese is still performing at a high level. Despite the compliments, Messi admitted that he is not friends with Cristiano Ronaldo. The Argentine stressed that there is no problem between them, but that they do not spend time together.
“I think it’s a normal thing [the rivalry], there was competition on the pitch for each one. He wanted to do the best for his team at that moment. And that was it. Everything was on the pitch. Off the pitch, we’re two normal people.”
“We’re not friends because we don’t spend time together, but we share a lot of respect. I admire him, I admire the career he’s had. And he continues to compete at the highest level,” said Lionel Messi.
