Real Madrid striker and world player of the year Vinícius Jr was criticized for his performances for the Brazilian national team.
The Brazilian National Team’s defeat to Argentina generated strong criticism from former Cruzeiro striker Kleber Gladiador. Voted the best player in the world by FIFA last year, Vini is a frequent target of criticism in the Brazilian National Team. Despite continuing to be a protagonist at Real Madrid, the 24-year-old striker has not repeated his excellent performances with the yellow jersey.
“His (Vinícius) first call-up was in 2019. Vinícius Jr. has been playing for the Brazilian National Team for six years, and to this day we are discussing why he does not play well. Why does Vinícius Jr. have to be the starting player for the Brazilian National Team? Why can’t he be on the bench?”, said Kleber.
The Gladiator stated that, regardless of their performances, some players are guaranteed a starting position in Brazil. “The only team that seems to have a guaranteed place is the Brazilian team,” he criticized.
