The game
Flamengo started the match with an attacking stance and almost opened the scoring in the third minute. After a free kick in the area, Danilo hit the post. On the rebound, Luiz Araújo kicked the ball over the crossbar. Los Angeles responded immediately. Delgado took a chance from outside the area and also hit the post.
The team from Rio de Janeiro came close again in the 12th minute. Arrascaeta took a shot from the edge of the area and hit the post. Flamengo continued to dominate the game and saw Evertton Araújo and Pedro finish over the defense. Los Angeles barely bothered Flamengo, who continued to control the match. The team from Rio de Janeiro almost scored in the 29th minute. Goalkeeper Lloris collided with a defender. The referee did not stop the play and Pedro ended up hitting the crossbar with an empty net.
The North American team managed to score in the 37th minute, with Marlon. However, the goal was disallowed for offside. Flamengo, on the other hand, failed to create any more good chances and had to settle for a draw until half-time.
Second half
In the second half, Flamengo showed some quality in the sixth minute. Luiz Araújo was released and tried to tap the ball instead of shooting. The American defense appeared to prevent the goal. Los Angeles responded immediately with Bouanga, who shot dangerously. The red-and-blacks created another good chance in the 12th minute, when Everton Cebolinha shot for a good save by Lloris.
Pedro tried a volley from a corner kick, but the ball went over the goal line. Then, it was Arrascaeta’s turn to hit the crossbar. As time went on, Flamengo maintained possession of the ball, but began to suffer from Los Angeles’ marking. To make matters worse, the American team scored in the 38th minute, on a counterattack. Buoanga was released into the area and chipped the ball past Rossi.
Flamengo did not change its stance and tied the game in the 41st minute. Wallace Yan made a good play and finished without a chance for Lloris. In the final minutes, the red-blacks almost turned the game around with Allan, but ended up with only a draw on the scoreboard in Orlando.
