The decision by the Central London County Court was made due to a debt corresponding to the years 2021 and 2022
England’s starting player at the 2002 World Cup, Trevor Sinclair was declared bankrupt by the Central London County Court. The decision was made due to a tax debt of 36.4 thousand pounds (R$273.5 thousand).
The amount corresponds to taxes unpaid by the former player between 2021 and 2022, when he was a television and radio commentator. The situation reached the London court in April. At the time, Sinclair gave testimony. He stated that the problems began after the death of his accountant and stated that he was unaware of the outstanding debts.
According to The Sun, from England, the English court instructed Trevor to pay the amount due or present an alternative to payment. After failing to appear in court, Sinclair was declared bankrupt as he was “unable to pay his debts”, according to a ruling by Judge Caroline Wilkinson.
Former midfielder Trevor Sinclair played as a player between 1989 and 2008. He played for Manchester City, West Ham, Backpool, Queens Park Rangers and Cardiff. In total, he made 674 appearances and scored 84 goals. He played 12 times for England, including four in the 2002 World Cup – including the quarter-final defeat to Brazil.
