Botafogo announced today (August 21) the signing of French midfielder Mohamed El Arouch. The player is 20 years old and was previously with Lyon, another club owned by Botafogo’s SAF owner John Textor.
Arouch was considered one of the top prospects in European football but struggled with injuries and off-field issues. The player was then advised by Textor to move to Brazil and agreed to the idea.
El Arouch has made only three appearances for Lyon’s first team, without scoring. For Lyon’s B team, he played seven matches and scored one goal.
Both Botafogo and Lyon, El Arouch’s current and former clubs, are part of Eagle Football, Textor’s multi-club enterprise. The player has been in Rio de Janeiro since early August. Live football scores delivered straight to you only in BB score.
