The match carried significant weight for Barça. The day before, Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid had drawn 1-1 at the Santiago Bernabéu, leaving the door open for Barcelona to fully re-enter the race for the 2024/25 La Liga title.

The slip-up by the capital teams left Real Madrid still in the lead with 50 points, followed by Atlético Madrid in second place with 49. With this victory, Hansi Flick’s team reached 48 points, closing in on their rivals.

And they did it in style. The first half was competitive—although Lewandowski scored the opener just seven minutes in, Sevilla equalized a minute later through Vargas, and the score remained 1-1 until halftime. Then came the second-half show.

First, Fermin López put Barça back in front in the 46th minute. Nine minutes later, Raphinha extended the lead. At the 62nd minute, López himself was sent off, and it seemed like Sevilla would press for an equalizer. However, lacking attacking power, the hosts could only watch as Éric Garcia sealed the win with a goal in the 89th minute, turning the victory into a rout. Stay in the know with BB Score.
