Neymar avoids contract renewal and demands Santos players: ‘It can’t depend only on me’

Neymar returned to the field this Thursday (22/5) and participated in Santos’ elimination by CRB in the third phase of the Copa do Brasil

Back on the field after more than two months, forward Neymar participated in Santos’ elimination by CRB, this Thursday (22/5), in the third phase of the Copa do Brasil. After the match, the forward left the renewal with Peixe open and demanded his teammates. Initially, Neymar was asked by Prime Video reporters about the extension of his contract with Alvinegro Praiano, which ends at the end of June. The number 10 was succinct:

“I don’t know yet”. While recovering from a muscle injury in his left thigh, Neymar saw Santos put itself in a complicated situation in the Brazilian Championship: Peixe is in second-to-last place, with five points – two more than Sport, which has two and is in last place. Now, with the 5-4 defeat to CRB on penalties, the team said goodbye to the Copa do Brasil and only has the national tournament with points to play until the end of the year. “I know that with me on the field, things are different. You (the reporter) saw that in 20, 25 minutes, I can make a difference. I know I can help my teammates. But all of this can’t depend on me alone. Everyone knows the situation we’re in and we need all the players to get out of this situation,” demanded Neymar.

Neymar’s contract with Santos

Neymar returned to Santos in January of this year, after terminating his contract with Al-Hilal, from Saudi Arabia. The contract signed by the player with Peixe is valid until June 30. Neymar, who has had two muscle injuries since returning to Brazil, has only played 10 matches this season, having contributed three goals and three assists.
