With this victory, Botafogo reclaimed the top spot in the league, now with 43 points. Atlético-GO, meanwhile, remains at the bottom of the table with just 12 points. Both teams are preparing for crucial Copa do Brasil matches: Atlético-GO will face Vasco on Tuesday, while Botafogo will play against Bahia on Wednesday.

The game started slowly, with both teams showing little inspiration in the first 15 minutes. The situation changed at the 20th minute when Luiz Henrique made an individual play and crossed the ball to Igor Jesus, whose header was saved by Pedro Rangel. Carlos Alberto, well-positioned, capitalized on the rebound to score the first goal for Botafogo. Shortly after, Atlético-GO had a chance to equalize with Luiz Felipe, but Danilo Barbosa cleared the ball off the line. The equalizer came in the 44th minute when Campbell converted a penalty after a VAR review.

In the second half, Botafogo came out more aggressive and made a substitution that proved effective: Óscar Romero replaced Danilo Barbosa to enhance playmaking. At the 23rd minute, Cuiabano hit the post, and Igor Jesus converted the rebound to score the second goal. Soon after, Luiz Henrique earned a penalty that Óscar Romero converted. At the end, on another counter-attack, Luiz Henrique earned his second penalty of the night and converted it himself to seal the 4-1 win.

Botafogo dominated the match, leaving Atlético-GO struggling to create dangerous plays. With a brilliant performance from Luiz Henrique and the team’s consistency, Alvinegro found its winning form again and solidified its position in the Brasileirão title race.
