Bragantino took the lead early in the match, capitalizing on a defensive mistake by Vasco. Despite the visitors’ continued pressure, Vasco managed to level the score before halftime. The team came out more aggressive in the second half and managed to take the lead, sparking excitement among the home fans.

However, in the 43rd minute of the second half, Helinho of Bragantino found a gap in Vasco’s defense and scored the equalizer, thwarting Vasco’s hopes of securing a crucial victory. With this result, Vasco remains winless in their last three Brasileirão matches, with two losses and one draw, staying in 11th place with 24 points. Bragantino, on the other hand, reaches 25 points and occupies 10th place.

Vasco now turns its focus to the Copa do Brasil, where they will face Atlético-GO in the round of 16 on Tuesday (6th), at São Januário. The first leg ended 1-1, and a simple victory will secure a spot in the next phase. If the match ends in another draw, the decision will be made by penalties.

Bragantino will prepare to play Athletico-PR on Wednesday (7th), needing to overturn a two-goal deficit to advance in the Copa do Brasil. The match will be held at Nabi Abi Chedid, and Bragantino will need a convincing win to continue in the competition.

The match also marked the return of Philippe Coutinho to São Januário after 14 years. Revealed by Vasco, Coutinho entered the game in the 19th minute of the second half, replacing Payet, but was unable to change the outcome for the carioca team, which continues its search for better results in the league.
