In the humor piece Isso a Globo não Mostra, on Fantástico, the Rio de Janeiro broadcaster aired a full video using artificial intelligence to present the FIFA Club World Cup. In the almost two-minute piece, Globo hilariously portrays the Brazilian clubs participating in the competition: Flamengo, Botafogo, Fluminense and Palmeiras.
The broadcaster also joked about the fact that Vasco is the only major Rio de Janeiro team not competing. In one scene, a navigator says he is on his way to the United States to watch Cruz-Maltino in the Club World Cup. A crew member clarifies that the team from São Januário is not in the tournament. “You’re going to break me,” the navigator replied.
The competition has a format similar to the last editions of the World Cup, with 32 teams divided into eight groups of four teams. The teams face each opponent in the group once.
The top two teams in each group advance to the knockout stage. From there, the round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals are played, all in a single game, with extra time in the event of a tie and, if the tie persists, a penalty shootout. There will be no third-place play-off.
The brackets were determined by drawing lots before the start of the World Cup. The team that finishes in first place in Group A will face the second-place team in Group B and vice versa. The same goes for Groups C and D and so on.
