Fluminense coach Renato Gaúcho spoke about the 2-0 victory over Inter Milan that secured a place in the quarter-finals of the Club World Cup
Fluminense defeated Inter Milan-ITA 2-0 this Monday in Charlotte. The result over the European runner-up placed the Tricolor team in the quarterfinals of the Super Club World Cup. Coach Renato Gaúcho spoke about the team’s performance and praised the positive result.
“We had to make as few mistakes as possible and we made very few. We had few chances up front, but we managed to score goals. I said in the last few days that they have a lot more money than us, but football is decided on the field,” he said.
After the triumph, the coach also highlighted the strength of Brazilian football, which will have two representatives in the next phase of the World Cup. In addition to Fluminense, Palmeiras has also qualified for the quarterfinals.
“Brazilian football has been showing its strength. The Europeans have more money, but we are showing a lot of dignity on the field,” he declared. With this result, Fluminense will return to the field on Friday, at 4 pm (Brasília time), in Orlando, for the quarterfinals.
