The win was hard-fought. Throughout the first half, Stuttgart outperformed the hosts and had numerous chances to score, but they were thwarted by goalkeeper Courtois, who was in inspired form. Real Madrid managed to create some good plays, but it was Mbappé who broke the deadlock early in the second half.
Stuttgart continued to apply pressure and even managed to equalize, but Rüdiger headed in from a corner in the 77th minute, putting Real back in front. Endrick then sealed the victory by scoring his first goal in the world’s top club tournament during stoppage time, finishing off a counterattack.
