The attacker said women needed to ’embody feminine energy’ and perform household chores for their husbands.
Veteran striker Javier “Chicharito” Hernández expressed regret on Thursday (July 24) over the backlash generated by his recent comments regarding women, which were deemed “sexist,” resulting in him being punished by the Mexican Football Federation and his club, Chivas Guadalajara, and criticized by the Mexican president.
“I deeply regret any confusion and discomfort my words have caused. It was never my intention to imitate, hurt, or divide,” Hernández said in a message posted on Instagram. “I am listening, reflecting, and committed to expressing myself with more clarity and sensitivity, especially on such sensitive topics,” Chicharito added. “I believe change starts with ourselves… As a father, a man, and a member of this community, my priority is to act with respect, humility, and responsibility,” he continued.
A few days ago, on TikTok, Chicharito Hernández posted a video criticizing and offering suggestions to women. “Women, you are failing, eradicating masculinity and making society increasingly sensitive,” the player said. “Embody your feminine energy by caring, nurturing, raising children, cleaning, and maintaining the home, which is the most precious place for us men. Don’t be afraid to be women, to let yourself be guided by a man who only wants to see you happy,” he continued.
