Challenge with Neymar involving penalty kicks without a goalkeeper had a prize of approximately R$2.8 million
Santos forward Neymar is the star of a new video by American YouTuber MrBeast, famous for creating intriguing challenges with cash prizes. The post, which already has more than 71 million views, involves a penalty shootout between the player and a follower of the channel, worth US$500 thousand (approximately R$2.8 million). The challenge between Neymar and MrBeast’s follower did not have a goalkeeper.
However, with each alternate penalty kick, they moved four meters away from the goal. The challenge ended in midfield when Neymar missed a penalty kick that hit the post. In addition to Neymar, stars from other sports participated in challenges proposed by MrBeast in the video, such as tennis player Serena Williams and basketball player Stephen Curry.
Neymar’s absence from coach Carlo Ancelotti’s first call-up for the Brazilian National Team caught the world’s attention on Monday (26/5). After announcing the list of 23 players, the Italian coach explained why he decided to leave the Santos player out of the games against Ecuador and Paraguay in the Qualifiers. According to Ancelotti, the decision was based on physical fitness. Neymar was out of action for over a month recovering from a muscle injury in his left thigh.
He recently returned to the field and came off the bench in Santos’ last two matches, against CRB (Copa do Brasil) and Vitória (Campeonato Brasileiro). “In this call-up, I tried to select players who are in good shape. Neymar has just recovered from an injury and has started playing. Everyone knows that Neymar is a very, very important player, he always has been and he always will be. We are counting on him, obviously,” explained Ancelotti.
