Dallas Mavericks player Klay Thompson appeared wearing the Santos star’s jersey autographed by the Brazilian star
Santos is internationalizing its brand through its main star: Neymar. This Monday, Dallas Mavericks star Klay Thompson appeared wearing a Santos jersey customized with the star’s name and number. The jersey worn by Klay Thompson was even autographed by Neymar.
The basketball player appeared wearing the jersey in photos published by Pedro Velasco, a friend of the Santos number 10, which were later reposted by the club’s official profile. The NBA star and Velasco were on a boat trip together. Klay Thompson is enjoying his vacation, since Dallas did not qualify for the NBA Finals. The decision is tied 2-2 between Oklahoma City Thunder and Indiana Pacers. While Klay Thompson enjoys his break from basketball, Neymar is doing the same from soccer. Santos gave its players 14 days off during the Club World Cup, since the team is not competing in the international competition.
Neymar has also been training during his free time. Last Friday, for example, the number 10 posted a video of himself training at home, alongside his personal team, on his Instagram stories. He should take advantage of the period to strengthen his physical condition, with the aim of avoiding further physical problems.
The star’s contract with Santos only runs until June 30, but the club is seeking to renew it. President Marcelo Teixeira is talking to the player’s staff to try to extend the number 10’s contract at least until the 2026 World Cup. In a press conference last Thursday, after the match against Fortaleza – in which Neymar did not play because he was suspended -, coach Cléber Xavier revealed his anxiety about the attacking midfielder’s renewal and said he hopes to be able to see him again when the squad returns, scheduled for next June 27 (Friday).
