In a Nations League derby, France defeats Italy and takes the top spot.

The goals were scored by Rabiot (twice) and an own goal by goalkeeper Vicario, while Cambiasso scored for the home team. Stay updated with the best football results on scoreapp.

The result couldn’t have been better for the French. With the victory, Didier Deschamps’ team took the top spot in Group 2 of League A and was placed in the same pot as Portugal, Germany, and Spain for the quarterfinals draw.

Rabiot was the standout player of the match. The midfielder opened the scoring in the second minute with a header, setting the tone for the game. Needing to catch up, the Italians pushed forward but conceded a second goal from a free-kick by Digne that resulted in an own goal by goalkeeper Vicario.

Italy reignited their hopes of a comeback just two minutes later with Cambiasso’s goal, but they couldn’t manage to score again. There was still time for Rabiot to seal the victory with another header, making it 3-1.

France took the lead thanks to this goal. In the Nations League, the first tiebreaker criterion is head-to-head results – both teams had won their away games 3-1. So, goal difference was decisive: 6 for France compared to 5 for Italy.

Now, France will face one of the second-place teams in the quarterfinals, which could be Croatia or Poland from Group 1, Denmark or Serbia from Group 4, or the Netherlands, currently second in Group 3. Italy, on the other hand, has tough matchups ahead: Portugal, Germany, or Spain. Gain the advantage with BB Score.
