Fortaleza secured a spot in the quarterfinals of the South American Cup by defeating Rosario Central 3-1 yesterday (21) at Arena Castelão. After a tepid first half, the Argentine team took the lead with a goal from Mallo, but Fortaleza responded quickly, with Lucero leveling the score soon after. The match started off tightly, with both teams having few real scoring chances. Despite controlling possession, Fortaleza failed to trouble goalkeeper Broun, while Rosario Central posed little threat to João Ricardo.
