Former Cruzeiro player declares his love for Hulk: 'If it weren't for him, my daughter wouldn't be alive'

“My ex-wife went to have my daughter, and he was the one who took my ex-wife to the hospital. He provided all the assistance, and I’m very grateful to him,” said the 35-year-old center forward.

Former Cruzeiro center forward Walter made a moving statement about his friendship with Hulk, now at Atlético. In an interview with the Denílson Show YouTube channel, he revealed that the Galo forward was instrumental in one of the most difficult moments in his personal life.

The story took place in Portugal, when Walter and Hulk were teammates at Porto. “My daughter was born prematurely in Portugal. We went on a trip with the reserve team, and Hulk didn’t go, he stayed,” he began. The moment was tense, with Walter away from his family. “My ex-wife went to have my daughter, and he was the one who took my ex-wife to the hospital. He provided all the assistance, I’m very grateful to him, because if it weren’t for him—and, of course, first and foremost, God—my daughter wouldn’t be alive today,” the former Cruzeiro player said emotionally, referring to his daughter Catarina Vitória.

Despite the distance imposed by football, Walter’s gratitude remains undiminished. “I have a very close friendship with Hulk, of course, after that we each go our separate ways, we lose touch a little, but when we see each other the friendship is very strong, he is a very family-like guy,” he concluded.

Walter played alongside Hulk at Porto between 2010 and 2011. He then played for Cruzeiro in 2012, where he played 11 games and scored three goals. Currently, at 35, Walter plays for Tupy-GO.
