The arrival of Italian Carlo Ancelotti to the Brazilian national team could be very good for Casemiro, a Manchester United player. The 33-year-old midfielder has not been called up to defend the Yellow Team since October 2023, when Brazil’s coach was Fernando Diniz, currently at Vasco.
Former Brazilian captain Casemiro highly praised Ancelotti, with whom he worked for a year at Real Madrid. Together, the duo won the 2022 Champions League in Paris, against Liverpool. The Brazilian stressed that he wants to return to the national team and be coached by the Italian again.
“It’s hard to talk about returning to the national team. It’s inevitable to think about it when you talk about the greatness of a coach like him (Ancelotti). When you have a coach of that greatness and he goes to the Brazilian national team, of course you want to, of course you want to return to Brazil,” said Casemiro, in an interview with ESPN.
Casemiro then revealed that he has already contacted Ancelotti and his son, who works as the Italian coach’s assistant. “So, I’ve already had contact with him (Ancelotti), yes. But before that I’ve also been in contact with his son (assistant Davide Ancelotti), with whom I had a lot of affection. So, without a doubt, he’ll be very good for the national team, regardless of whether he wins or not,” added Casemiro.
Casemiro has recovered from a bad 2024 and is an important player for coach Rúben Amorim at Manchester United. The Brazilian has played 39 games, scored five goals and provided two assists this season.
