The 2002 World Cup champion for the Brazilian National Team, the former defender suffered an accident while trying to light an ecological fireplace
Lúcio, a former defender who won the world championship with the Brazilian National Team in 2002, is going through a difficult time in his personal life. Last week, he suffered an accident while trying to light an ecological fireplace. The idol suffered burns on 18% of his body and remains hospitalized in the Federal District. On Wednesday, Lúcio spoke a little about the challenge of his recovery, in an interview with Fred Linhares, from Balanço Geral da Record.
“The scare was big, and the journey is arduous. We will continue to pray and, God willing, I will be fine soon”, said the idol of Bayern Munich, from Germany.
On social media, Lúcio had already spoken out on Tuesday, citing his faith in a moment of anguish. The former defender had a photo released in which he appears with his arms, legs and head bandaged.
Since arriving at the hospital, Lúcio has undergone two surgeries. He has received words of solidarity from fellow football players, such as coach Renato Gaúcho, from Fluminense. Even the CBF (Brazilian Football Confederation) published a message of support for the former defender.
