Before being bought by Cruzeiro, in June 2024, striker Kaio Jorge said that he had received two other inquiries from Brazilian teams and proposals from European teams. However, he understood that the Raposa project was more advantageous. The statements were made during an interview with the Denílson Show podcast.
“The loan with Frosinone was ending, and speculations from Brazil started to come. Inter, Palmeiras and Cruzeiro were the last to beat. But Cruzeiro offered an interesting project, with visibility, with playing time, and I liked it more”, said the striker.
Kaio Jorge explained the reasons that led him to return to Brazilian football. “I had an offer to stay there, but then I thought about it and wanted to be happy again, I wanted to feel the warmth of the fans and I made the decision to come to Cruzeiro,” he said. He expressed gratitude to the Minas Gerais club, mentioning the difficulties he faced in Europe. “I am very grateful to Cruzeiro. In Europe, I was not feeling comfortable after the injury, I was feeling a little sad about being away from my family,” he added.
The negotiation to bring Kaio Jorge to Cruzeiro involves a total value that could reach 7.2 million euros (approximately R$ 41.2 million), paid in three installments to Juventus, for 100% of the player’s economic rights. In order for Cruzeiro to pay the full amount, Kaio Jorge needs to meet targets established in the contract, such as number of starts and goals scored.
Last year, Kaio Jorge did not perform as expected. In 23 games, he scored seven goals and contributed two assists. This season, the forward has improved his performance on the field. In total, he played 18 games, contributing ten goals and two assists.
