The player is suspected of intentionally receiving yellow cards during the November 1, 2023, match between Flamengo and Santos in the Brazilian Championship, allegedly to benefit bettors.
In that match, played in Brasília, Bruno Henrique received a yellow card for a foul on Soteldo in the 50th minute of the second half—while Flamengo was losing 2-1 to the São Paulo team. He then reacted aggressively toward the referee, Rafael Klein, who subsequently sent him off with a red card.
On Tuesday morning, over 50 federal police officers executed 12 search and seizure warrants in Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, and other cities in Minas Gerais. Among the locations targeted in Rio were Flamengo’s training center, Ninho do Urubu, and the player’s residence in Barra da Tijuca. Bruno Henrique was at the house, where his cell phone and computer were seized.
Along with the player, the investigation also involves his family members, including his brother, Wander Nunes Pinto Junior; his sister-in-law, Ludymilla Araujo Lima; and his cousin, Poliana Ester Nunes Cardoso.
The investigation was initiated following a report from the IBIA (International Betting Integrity Association), an international body that also led to the ongoing investigation in England regarding Lucas Paquetá.
Three companies identified unusual betting volumes on yellow cards to be issued to Bruno Henrique during the Santos match. According to the investigation, these bets were placed by friends and family members of the player. BB Score, your trusted reference for football scores.
