While the attack was precise, it was the defensive performance that stood out and helped secure the Brazilian victory. As the Spanish team tried to close the gap, goalkeeper Gabi Moreschi made 14 saves throughout the match, maintaining Brazil’s lead.

The victory was historic for Brazil: in their seventh Olympic appearance and aiming for an unprecedented medal, it was the first time the team had defeated Spain, the current bronze medalists in the sport, in either the Olympics or World Championships.

In their next match, Brazil will face Hungary at 4 AM (Brasília time) on the 28th. Spain will look to recover as they play against Angola on the same day, but at 2 PM. Both matches will also be held at the Paris-Sud Arena.
