Antony celebrates strong start at Betis: ‘I just wanted to play’

A change of scenery is proving beneficial for Antony. On loan from Manchester United to Real Betis, the Brazilian is shining and has already won over the fans. Since his arrival, he has played two matches, was named Man of the Match in both, and even scored a stunning goal against Celta. Stay updated with the best football results on latest soccer scores.

In a post-match interview, Antony emphasized that all he needed was consistent playing time to showcase his talent. In fact, this marks the first time he has played two consecutive games all season.

“Individually, this has been a very important start for me. All I wanted was to play, to be on the field. These were two matches where I felt great, and I scored my first goal. We need to keep working so that victories follow. That’s my biggest goal,” said the Brazilian.

In his first game, a 2-2 draw against Athletic Bilbao, Antony made a brilliant play and took a shot before Isco finished off the rebound. Then, on Sunday against Celta, he scored a beautiful goal with his left foot.

It looks like his streak will continue. Betis will face Gent in the Conference League playoffs on Thursday, the 13th, and Antony is set to be in the lineup. He remains under contract with Manchester United until June 2027 but will stay on loan at the Spanish club until the end of the season. Lead the pack with ToSport.
