France defeated Colombia 3-2 yesterday (25) at the Lyon stadium. The match, held at 4 p.m., marked the home team’s debut in women’s soccer at the Olympics 2024 Football. The goals were scored by Katoto (twice) and Dali for France, and Usme and Paví for Colombia.

All the French goals were scored in the first half: Katoto capitalized on a mix-up in the Colombian defense in the 6th minute to open the scoring. Then, in the 18th minute, Dali took advantage of a rebound in the middle of the box, striking into the top corner to double the lead. In the 42nd minute, Katoto headed in the final French goal of the game.

While the hosts didn’t add any more goals, Colombia did manage to score in the second half. In the 10th minute of the second half, Usme converted a penalty to reduce the deficit. Then, in the 19th minute, Paví outmaneuvered two defenders and finished into the corner of the net. But that was all the scoring for the Colombians.

France will be back in action against Canada on Sunday (28) at 4 p.m., while Colombia will look to bounce back against New Zealand on the same day at noon.
