Around 20 of the former player’s medals and trophies were stolen from a warehouse at his home.
Former French soccer star Michel Platini was robbed this Friday (July 18) at his home in Cassis, France, while he was present, and several of his trophies and medals were stolen, multiple sources confirmed following a report by RTL radio.
Platini awoke to a noise outside his home and surprised a masked individual dressed in black in front of his window. After chasing him away, he discovered that around 20 of his medals and trophies had disappeared from a garden shed he used to store some of his awards, a source close to the investigation and the Marseille Public Prosecutor’s Office told AFP.
Authorities have opened an investigation for aggravated robbery, and the investigation has been entrusted to guards from the Aubagne investigation brigade.
“The investigation continues to arrest the suspect and determine the exact value and nature of the stolen goods” belonging to the 70-year-old former UEFA president, the Public Prosecutor’s Office added.
