New Zealand team drew 0-0 with Boca Juniors on Tuesday (23/6) at Geodis Park in Nashville, United States.

Despite being eliminated from the FIFA Club World Cup, Auckland City celebrated their 1-1 draw with Boca Juniors on Tuesday (23/6) at Geodis Park in Nashville, United States, as a great achievement. The result, in the third round of Group C of the tournament, guaranteed the New Zealand team a prize of 1 million dollars (R$ 5.5 million).

In an interview with Rádio DSports, in Uruguay, Sebastián Ciganda, Auckland’s reserve goalkeeper, revealed where the money will go. “We will divide the prize money between the coaching staff and the group.” Despite the financial importance, Ciganda, who is part of a semi-professional team, celebrated the feat on the field. “The prize is secondary, now we are going to celebrate this victory. A draw with Boca is not something that happens every day,” he emphasized.

The goalkeeper shared a little about his routine before joining Auckland. “My last job was cleaning pools and jacuzzis. I asked for vacation and I’ll talk to my boss when I get back (laughs). I came to the United States without earning a single dollar. We’re here struggling.”

In the games against Bayern and Benfica, Auckland suffered two defeats: 10-0 against the Germans and 6-0 against the Portuguese.
