The Italian coach of the Brazilian National Team, Ancelotti, chose a player who is far from these most “likely” destinations – Europe and Brazil
The current roster of the Brazilian National Team is made up of a majority of players who play in Europe, where the best in the world are. Some of the players even play in Brazil. But one player called up by Carlo Ancelotti is neither in the Old Continent nor on national soil. Of the 25 players called up, 17 play in Europe, that is, 68% of the players chosen by the Italian are on the continent where Ancelotti worked throughout his career. Seven players – 28% – are in Brazilian football. And one player is far from these most “likely” destinations. SEE: Will the National Team play like Real? Ancelotti responds and says what he expects from Vini Jr. Goalkeeper Bento is the only one called up by Ancelotti to defend the National Team who is not in Brazil or Europe. The 25-year-old athlete left Athletico-PR in 2024 and headed to Saudi Arabia to be Cristiano Ronaldo‘s teammate at Al-Nassr.
In goal for the Saudi team, Bento played 49 matches in the 2024/25 season as an absolute starter. Before that, the goalkeeper had played 164 matches for Furacão, the club that revealed the player in 2020.
As for the Brazilian National Team, Bento has already played four times, in the absence of his main competitors: Alisson, from Liverpool, and Ederson, from Manchester City. The goalkeeper was used in the friendlies against England and Spain, in March 2024, and in two matches of the South American Qualifiers, against Colombia and Argentina, in March of this year.
