Barcelona president Joan Laporta has set a date for the reopening of Camp Nou, the Catalan club’s main stadium. The venue has been under renovation since 2023, and Barcelona’s plan was to host matches there again in November 2024. However, the work was not completed on time and the work will continue until 2025.

As a result, the team’s home has been the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium, which has a capacity for 55,900 fans. In a recent interview, Laporta indicated that the Blaugrana team should return to Camp Nou in September of this year.

“The team will return to Camp Nou in September if there are no obstacles. The works are progressing at a much faster pace and I must thank the Barcelona City Council for their collaboration. The inauguration of the new stadium will be a symbol of the club’s economic recovery,” he said.

The stadium is expected to reopen with reduced capacity at first, but with the renovations, the space will be able to accommodate 105,000 spectators.

Barcelona secured the title of this edition of La Liga (Spanish Championship) this Thursday (15/5), with a 1-0 victory over Espanyol, away from home, in the 36th round of the competition. A few weeks ago, the team had already won the Copa del Rey trophy with a 3-2 victory over Real Madrid, in Seville.
