Santos received a notification from FIFA regarding the debt owed to coach Pedro Caixinha and his staff. The club has 45 days to pay the amount or reach an agreement with the Portuguese. Otherwise, the team may be subject to a transfer ban.

The former coach of Peixe filed a lawsuit with the highest football authority at the beginning of the month. The foreigners did not reach an agreement with the board of directors to pay the termination fee. Alvinegro Praiano wanted to pay the R$15 million over three years. Caixinha, however, refused this offer. He wanted to receive the amount in cash.

Caixinha and his staff were fired on April 14. In total, there were 17 matches with the coach. During this period, Santos had six wins, four draws and seven losses, in addition to scoring 26 goals and conceding 21.

Santos published the terminations in the CBF’s Daily Information Bulletin (BID) on the 29th and took the Portuguese by surprise, since there is no agreement for payment of the fine.

The black and white board informed the Brazilian entity that the case is in the judicial sphere. Thus, the club was free to make the move and regularize Cleber Xavier, chosen to take over as coach.

Second-to-last in the Brazilian Championship, Peixe will play next Sunday, at 4 pm (Brasília time), against Corinthians, at Neo Química Arena, for the ninth round.
