Alejandro Domínguez emphasized the magnitude of the amount awarded, stressing that “last year’s Copa Libertadores final was so big that it was the highest-paid game in the world.”
According to CONMEBOL data, between 2019 and 2024, 1.469 billion dollars (around 1.3 million euros) were awarded in participation and monetary prizes in club tournaments.
In a statement, the South American Confederation reported that it went from distributing 71.2 million dollars (around 65 million euros) to 303 (278) annually between 2014 and 2025, registering a growth of 426% in the awarding of prizes to clubs.
