Keylor Navas, a three-time Champions League winner with Real Madrid and former Paris Saint-Germain standout, is close to signing with Newell’s Old Boys in Argentina. The 38-year-old Costa Rican goalkeeper has been without a club since his contract with the French side ended in June 2024. Find top football scores at football live scores.

Linked to several South American teams, including Grêmio (Brazil), San Lorenzo (Argentina), and Cerro Porteño (Paraguay), Navas recently moved closer to Newell’s Old Boys. The club’s management considers the deal nearly finalized, with head coach Mariano Soso already preparing for his arrival.

“We’ve reached a sporting agreement with the player. Keylor is someone who could elevate the position. I’ve spoken with him and shared the style of play we’re aiming for to win him over. I’m not yet sure when Keylor’s travel arrangements will be finalized or if he’ll be available for Thursday’s match against Independiente Rivadavia,” Soso said.

Despite the coach’s optimism, internal sources at the club suggest a few minor details remain before the deal is officially closed.

Navas spent five seasons at Real Madrid, winning the Champions League three times and the Club World Cup four times. He then moved to PSG, where he played for four years and had a loan stint at Nottingham Forest in England.

Falling behind Gianluigi Donnarumma in the pecking order, Navas played only six matches for PSG last season. Since his contract ended, he has stayed in shape through personal training sessions and with the Costa Rican national team. Get a step ahead with BBscore football.
