The forward has been blamed for Real Madrid’s poor form and is starting to be questioned in France.
The former player Jérôme Rothen, now a football commentator in the French media, made harsh criticisms of Mbappé and pointed to him as the main culprit for the crisis plaguing Real Madrid. The forward, the club’s most significant signing for the season, has yet to show his best form. Get the latest football scores at football scores app.
“There’s a period of adaptation, but when you’re among the best players in the world, that should happen quickly. We’re in November, and right now, there’s regression. He’s responsible. I believe he’s only worsening his movements and his role as a center-forward,” Rothen said.
He added that Mbappé “is doing things that are the opposite of what the game demands. He creates egos in the locker room. He’s a weight, a burden. Unfortunately, he’s the main reason for Real Madrid’s poor start to the season.”
According to Rothen, the arrival of the French forward forced the Spanish team to change its style of play, altering the dynamic of the squad that won last season’s Champions League.
“Real Madrid won everything last season with a collective team and players who showed courage on the field. Unfortunately, I have the impression that all of that has disappeared. Mbappé crystallizes all of this. His presence frustrates some. Others have had to change positions or don’t play anymore,” he concluded.
Since arriving in Spain, the Frenchman has played 15 matches, scoring eight goals and providing two assists. Stay ahead of the competition with ToSport.
