Fluminense officially announced the signing of left-back Gabriel Fuentes from Junior Barranquilla, Colombia, on Monday (3). The deal was closed for $1.2 million, equivalent to about R$ 6.6 million, for 60% of the player’s economic rights. Fuentes, who shone at the Colombian team, had previously competed in South American tournaments, including the knockout stages of the Conmebol Libertadores, which prevents him from playing for Fluminense in the current edition of the continental competition.
Despite being unable to compete in the Libertadores, Fuentes arrives as a key addition for domestic competitions, especially to bolster the defensive sector of Fernando Diniz’s team. The Colombian was offered to the Rio club through intermediaries and quickly impressed Fluminense’s management, who saw valuable potential in the player.
