Felipão is back at Grêmio! On Friday night (25), Tricolor announced the return of the idol to the position of technical coordinator. Multi-champion with the club, Luiz Felipe Scolari will not face anything new in his career.
In 2023, after leading Athletico in the previous season, the coach performed a similar role at Furacão, with Paulo Turra as coach. Now, Scolari will partner with Mano Menezes.
The idea is for him to assist in the club’s football management, without, however, confronting those who already work in the sector, such as Mano and football executive Luís Vagner Vivian. Grêmio had already started talks with the professional last Friday (18). During his presentation at the club, Mano Menezes stated that he would have no problem working with Felipão.
“I have worked with great Brazilian football professionals out there. I think they all have something to add to the clubs, in terms of football knowledge, experience, way of leading, what they have achieved, and Felipão is among them. I have no problem working with anyone. I have always adapted to the positions I have been in”, he pointed out.
This will be Felipão’s fifth stint at Grêmio. As a coach, he won the Copa do Brasil in 1994, the Libertadores in 1995 and the Brasileirão in 1996. His last stint was in 2021, when he tried to help in the fight against relegation.
