Barcelona confirmed this Sunday (4/20) that striker Robert Lewandowski suffered a left hamstring injury. The 36-year-old striker, therefore, may be out of the Copa del Rey final, which will take place next Saturday, against Real Madrid.
Lewandowski suffered the injury in the victory against Celta de Vigo, last Saturday (4/19), in the Spanish league. At 35 minutes into the second half, he asked to leave due to pain in his left thigh, the same area where he suffered discomfort in the match against Borussia Dortmund.
Barcelona announced that Lewandowski’s return will depend on his progress in recovery. With the injury, Hansi Flick only has Pau Víctor as an option as a center forward in the squad. The German coach could also improvise with Dani Olmo or Ferran Torres.
This season, Robert Lewandowski is Barcelona’s top scorer. In his 48 appearances, the veteran striker has scored 40 goals and provided three assists.
