The judges in the case unanimously voted to reject the athlete’s appeal and sentenced him to pay a fine of seven thousand euros, equivalent to R$45,000, as compensation for moral damages, ten euros daily for 20 months, in addition to covering legal costs.
The incident occurred on April 24, 2019, during a Spanish La Liga match. While playing for Celta de Vigo, the player went to the Espanyol stadium and, before the referee’s whistle, groped a woman dressed in the rival team’s mascot costume, Periquito. At the time, the incident garnered significant attention and ultimately led to the lawsuit against the player.
“The accused, with the intention of satisfying his libidinous state of mind and harming the victim’s sexual identity, placed his hands under her costume and touched her breasts.
