Spanish coach Domènec Torrent, 62, was announced by Mexican club Monterrey; team is in Group E of the World Cup
Former Flamengo coach Domènec Torrent, 62, was announced this Wednesday (21/5) as the new coach of Monterrey, one of the 32 teams that will compete in the Super Club World Cup. Free on the market since 2021/2022, the coach returned to the role last year.
In 2024, he led Atlético San Luís to the semifinals of Liga MX. Former assistant to Pep Guardiola, Torrent arrives at Monterrey to take over the position previously held by Argentine Martín Demichelis.
The Mexican team is in Group E of the World Cup. River Plate-ARG, Internazionale-ITA and Urawa Reds-JAP complete the group. The new FIFA competition will be held in the United States between June 14 and July 13.
Jorge Jesus’ replacement at Flamengo, Domènec Torrent coached the team in 2020. The Spanish coach led the Rio de Janeiro team in 24 matches, with 14 wins, four draws and six defeats.
