Liverpool and Portuguese national team striker Diogo Jota died in a tragic car accident this Thursday (3/7), in Spain
In a post on social media, star Cristiano Ronaldo mourned the death of Diogo Jota, a Liverpool and Portuguese national team striker. The 28-year-old player and his brother, André Silva, were victims of a car accident this Thursday (July 3), in the province of Zamora, Spain. “It doesn’t make sense. We were just together in the national team, and he had just gotten married. To your family, your wife and your children, I send my condolences and wish you all the strength in the world. I know you will always be with them. Rest in peace, Diogo and André. We will all miss you,” wrote CR7, captain and teammate of Jota in Portugal’s recent second title in the European Nations League, in June of this year. Diogo Jota died 11 days after his wedding to Rute Cardoso.
The couple had three children: Denis (four years old), Duarte (two years old) and a girl born last year whose name was not published by the parents. André Silva, Diogo Jota’s brother, was 26 years old and was a striker for Penafiel, in Portugal.
