The coach took over the position at the club after the departure of Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti, who led the team for the last four seasons
Carlo Ancelotti’s successor, who was hired by the Brazilian national team, Xabi Alonso led his first training session for Real Madrid on Monday. He arrived early, had a meeting with his staff and went onto the field with a still incomplete squad. The team will have four more training sessions before traveling to the United States to compete in the Club World Cup.
According to the newspaper AS, the coach surprised everyone by arriving at the training center at 7:30 am (local time), even before several club employees. On his first day at work, the new coach had to deal with a shortage of players, as many are still with their respective national teams. Only 15 of the players present at the training center are from the main squad.
Among the Brazilians, Rodrygo is available to work normally and Éder Militão only did specific exercises, while Endrick did not even take to the field. Vinícius Júnior, in turn, remains with the Brazilian National Team and will meet the delegation directly in the United States.
Right back Trent Alexander-Arnold and defender Dean Huijsen, recently signed by Real Madrid, are expected to be presented this Tuesday. Training in Madrid will continue until Friday and, on Saturday, the delegation will travel to Miami.
Real Madrid’s debut in the Club World Cup will be on June 18 (Wednesday), against Al Hilal, at the Hard Rock Stadium, starting at 4 pm (Brasília time).
