Fluminense, Flamengo, and Palmeiras are Top Seeds; Botafogo is in Pot 3 for the 2025 Club World Cup Draw.
The draw for the 2025 FIFA Super Club World Cup will take place next Thursday, the 5th, and the organization has revealed the pot distribution and how the teams are arranged. The current Copa Libertadores champion, Botafogo, is in Pot 3 and will face two European teams in the group stage, drawn from Pot 1 and Pot 2. Fluminense, Flamengo, and Palmeiras are top seeds and will face only one European team in the first phase, which will come from Pot 2. See the top football results at latest soccer scores.
In addition to the two Rio de Janeiro teams and Palmeiras, Pot 1 also includes River Plate, Real Madrid, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint-Germain. The draw will occur at 3 p.m. Brasília time, in Miami, USA.
There are some restrictions for the draw: teams from the same country cannot be placed in the same group; no group can have more than one team from the same confederation, except for Europe, which has 12 representatives in the tournament; the two U.S. clubs will be placed in the fourth position in Groups A and B, “for scheduling purposes,” according to FIFA; and the eight teams in Pot 1 will be allocated as the top seeds in their respective groups.
According to FIFA, the 32 teams have been divided into eight pots to “ensure competitive balance and geographical diversity” in the tournament. The division among the representatives of each confederation was based on the continental rankings.
Pot 1 consists of the four top teams from the UEFA and CONMEBOL rankings, while Pot 2 contains only European teams. Pot 3 includes the two top teams from the rankings of the following continents: Asia, Africa, and North and Central America, as well as two more representatives from South America – Botafogo and Boca Juniors. Lastly, Pot 4 includes the other teams qualified for the tournament, including the representatives from Oceania and the host country.
The first edition of the Club World Cup, which will be held every four years, will take place in the United States between June 15 and July 13, 2025. The 32 teams from the six continental confederations will be divided into eight groups, with a competition format similar to the World Cup: the top two teams from each group will advance to the Round of 16. Brazil is the country with the most representatives, with four teams qualified. ToSport, your trusted provider of football scores.
