Fábio's statement after Fluminense lost to Chelsea in the World Cup

Historic 44-year-old goalkeeper Fábio had a good campaign with Fluminense in the World Cup, but was eliminated by Chelsea in the semi-finals.

Fluminense has been eliminated from the Club World Cup. The Tricolores were defeated 2-0 by Chelsea in the semifinals on Tuesday at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.

Goalkeeper Fábio didn’t hide his disappointment at the elimination. However, he admitted that Chelsea were superior to Fluminense in the match.

“It’s always difficult. The expectation is always to go for something more, a spot in the final. We did our best. The opposing team was better, created chances, and were fortunate. We have to know when the opponent was superior. We had no shortage of desire to win and advance to the final,” he said.

Now, Fluminense returns to Brazil and focuses on the rest of the season. The Tricolor team is competing in the Brazilian Championship, the Copa do Brasil, and the Copa Sudamericana.
