Businessman Ronaldo Fenômeno stated that, if Corinthians decides to become a Football Corporation he is ready to seek financial resources in the market and take over the management of the São Paulo club’s football. The statement was made during an interview with the Denílson Show podcast, this Monday (23/6).
“I’ve said it a few times. If Corinthians decides to become a SAF, I’ll get the money and go for it. I really believe in it. As a club and as a social group, Corinthians is a machine,” said Ronaldo. He defended the SAF model, arguing that “it won’t take away the club’s identity, that it will be managed better, there will be more investment, the fans will have more peace of mind, I think it’s a viable solution.”
Without professionalizing the administration, Ronaldo sees no prospects for change in Corinthians’ political scenario. “I don’t have much hope, no. Unfortunately, Corinthians’ situation today is very complicated. There is internal confusion, on the board, in the current management, there is debt, but I think the only solution for Corinthians is to become a SAF”, he highlighted.
He suggested that Corinthians could be controlled by a hybrid management model. “When Corinthians becomes a SAF, it could be a hybrid model, in which the investor will have alternating control with the association, but the investor will have to be in control for the first few years. And, depending on how much it is, because Corinthians’ debt only grows, but I think that is the way out”.
Ronaldo also criticized the way Corinthians fans have been demonstrating. “They have to understand their role, the protests that the fans make are exaggerated, they cause more chaos, the chaos is created, and they don’t think of a way to change that”, he stated.
