Amid hidden clashes and frequent indirect jabs, the player decided to speak publicly about his relationship with the coach in his web series “Até o Fim”, which provides details about his time at the club. In the second episode, released last Thursday, the 5th, on his newly created YouTube channel, the player opened up about his daily life with the coach:
“I had almost a whole year where I didn’t play, a very difficult year for me. The doping issue, the issue of a coach who didn’t count on me. And in daily life, it’s much more complicated than telling the story in the end. There were many training sessions that were tough for me, many games where I played five minutes, three minutes. It was eating me up inside,” said Gabigol.
The relationship between the player and the coach had already been strained even before Flamengo. At the time, Tite, the coach of the Brazilian national team, chose not to take Gabigol to the 2022 World Cup. During the celebration of Flamengo’s Libertadores title that same year, the fans directed insults at the coach, and the player grabbed the microphone on the sound truck to respond: “I already play for a national team.”
Tite arrived at the Rio club in October 2023 and was dismissed in September 2024. During this period, Gabigol played in 37 matches – 33 of them coming off the bench – and scored four goals. With the arrival of Filipe Luís, he returned to the starting lineup and played a key role in the Copa do Brasil final, scoring two goals in the first leg at the Maracanã.
Despite this, Gabigol chose not to renew his contract with Flamengo and bid farewell to the club after six seasons on Sunday, the 8th, against Vitória at the Maracanã. BB Score, your trusted provider of football scores.
