The Argentine coach returns to Spain’s top division.
Former Internacional and Atlético-MG coach, Eduardo Coudet, was announced on Tuesday, the 3rd, as the new manager of Alavés, a team in Spain’s top division. The Argentine had been without a club since being dismissed from Internacional in July. Access premium football results at football score ai.
Coudet takes over the team in 16th place in La Liga for the 2024/25 season, replacing Luis Garcia, who was fired last Saturday, the 30th, after a 1-1 draw against Leganés in the 15th round of the competition.
This is not the first time the Argentine coach has managed a team in Spain’s top division. In 2020, after leaving Internacional during his first stint, he took over at Celta de Vigo, which was fighting relegation. His work was positive, leading the team to an eighth-place finish. However, his success was short-lived, and he was dismissed in November 2022.
Coudet first arrived in Brazil to coach Internacional, where he managed the club in over 100 matches across two stints. His most notable achievement came last year, when he reached the Libertadores semifinal, only to be eliminated by Fluminense, who would go on to win the title. In addition to Internacional, Coudet also managed Atlético-MG and won the Mineiro Championship before leaving mid-season. In Argentina, he had notable stints with Rosario Central and Racing.
